Hiking at Tallullah Gorge
After a week of hard work we truly deserved a relaxing weekend. It was actually on Friday (Ok, long weekend....) that Nadia and Robin had planned to go to a big sky diving event. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate so our back-up plan was to go hiking.
So after getting up at six in the morning just to hear that the sky dive was cancelled, we had time for a big southern breakfast at Cracker Barrels.
All the stuff you see in the photo is actually one regular serve of breakfast which we shared between the two of us and had more than enough to prepare us for the strenuous walk.
The walk started out at the top of a picturesque gorge and was graded difficult on our visitor maps. In Australia one would expect a fairly hard walk, some exposed rock scramble or the like. Here it was apparently the number of stairs that qualified the walk for this category (the Lady in the visitor centre told us the exact number of steps of each stretch of stairs).
Past awesome views of waterfalls and rock walls those stairs led to the floor of the gorge.
The one feature that fascinated us the most was undoubtedly the suspension bridge. For two engineers with more than their fair share of childish playfulness it was not the construction of the bridge that was particularly fascinating. The fun part was to stand in the middle of the bridge and find the natural frequencies and normal modes through 'direct experimentation'.....
The endpoint of the walk in the gorge was this GORGEeous waterfall....

Wow, the place looks awesome and I love that red jumper in the foreground. It really gives the 3-dimensional impression, hehehe. =D
